Please let me know if/when you find the correct information, Susan. I am now pretty confused. You descend from William David Yates -shown on the below 1860 census - correct? I have his DOB as Mar 1860.

William D Yates 2/12 months b. MS
On the census page, the YATES name is obvious as there was a George right above them on the page and the "G" was different from the "Y".
By 1870 Blake M. Mauldin is listed on one index as living in Baysprings, Tishomingo Co., MS census. However, in Heritage Quest on-line, his family is listed under Booneville, Prentiss Co., MS census, page 375, family #246. The family is listed as follows:
Blake Maulden, Township 5 Range 6, house 246/246 54yrs farmer, $1000 $800 b. AL
Mary A. 42 TN keeping house, (if she was the same as the lady listed above in 1860, she should be 32 years old, not 42, but the state of birth was the same)
MAULDIN children:
Sarah M. 18 MS,
Huldia A. 15 MS,
George W. 20 MS,
Benjamin L. 12 MS;
Franklin 12 MS,
and two YATES children incorrectly listed as MAULDIN: William D. 8 MS and John 6 MS.
Blake lived in that part of Tishomingo converted into Prentiss Co., MS in 1870. Ancestry.com's census index database shows the following: 1870 MAULDEN, BLAKE Prentiss County MS p.375 Twp 5.
