James Mauldin lived so long ago it is very difficult finding original proof of ancestry. My guess is that JAMES MAULDIN was a brother of my ggggfather, FRANCIS MAULDIN born 1790 in SC. James lived in Gwinnett Co. GA for awhile and is son LABAN MAULDIN moved next door to some of Francis' children in Pickens Co. GA after the civil war. He is listed in the 1870 Pickens Co. GA census. My guess is that James and Francis were sons of BENJAMIN MAULDIN who lived in Laurens Co. SC up until 1830 or so.
