I have traced my father David Fayette Mauldin back to his father Ernest Ray Mauldin, and his father Walter Florence Mauldin, and his father Elias C. Mauldin, and his father Absalom Mauldin, and his father James Mauldin who married Rachel Martin. James and Rachel were from Pendleton district, South Carolina. They moved to Georgia in the 1830's. I am looking for information farther back. I want to know where the Mauldin name comes from, which country does it originate in. I have heard Ireland, but am unsure.
