The Fort Sam Houston just acquired some soldier's photographs from 1953. The seller said the photos were among items identified to the Mauk family in Kentucky. In one of the photos is a list of soldiers, including "PFC J F Mauk." (BTW, that's Private First Class.) Do any of you Mauks know this man? He was probably in his early twenties in 1953. From the pictures, he may have been a photographer and/or a sketch artist. In 1953, he was assigned to the Medical Field Service School at Fort Sam Houston. This was the unit tht trained medics and doctors for the Korean War, but it looks like PFC Mauk was part of the staff of the school. Also identifed in that list of soldiers are: SGT R W Craig CPL R Pacchioli PFC Carnevale PVT D W Mead Other people identified in the pictures are: Sue Barton "Girl Nurse" Deena "Dinky" Nichols Mimi (Bovine) Sherman (she doesn't look "bovine') Levy Glass (my buddy from Brooklyn) Larry Konowitz Harvey Golom-Belk Morton Rosenthal Norm Narotsky If anyone has any further info on any of this, respond to this posting or contact me at: jacqueline.b.davis@amedd.army.mil Jackie Davis Museum Specialist Notify Administrator about this message?
