Shirley,
I appreciate your response. We are cousins I see. I descend off of Marrrriner who was the fourth child and son of Sutcliffe and Elizabeth's. He remained in Maquoketa, IA while Henry James moved out to Utah in 1857. Marriner married Amanda CAMPBELL and they had 4 children, 1 son and 3 daughters. The son, William Marion, died young and the 3 girls married and had families. They were Carrie Malvina, Ella May and Minnie Blanch. Ella was my gr,gr grandmother. She married Owen BEAN in 1892. They had 3 sons and 1 daughter ( Mariner, Howard, Clifford and Hellen). Howard was my grandfather. He died young (27) from an accident leaving my grandmother with my mom, Betty Lou and my uncle Donald Owen Bean. I would be interested in your lineage if you would like to share.
I have been actively researching my Maudsley branch of the family for the last 5-6 years (since I retired). I have been helping on the book about Sutcliffe that our cousin Brenda Powell and her husband Kyle have been compiling. It should be done sometime in April. We are looking for any photos or information of the family that we might be able to use. It will be about 200 pages with 50-60 photos and copies of Sutcliffe's works. If there is anything you would like to contribute let me know. We have gotten back 2 generations in England also. there should be a wealth of information that will be available for the "Family" to share. If you want to be included on our mailing list let me know your snail mail address.
On Aug 25 of this year we will have the third of our bi-annual Maudsley family reunions in Salt Lake City. We have had nearly the 100 participants at the last two and will probably have that many or more this time. There will be a Exhibit of Sutcliffe's works at the Family History Mueseum. It runs from April til Oct. The first two reunions were held in LeVerkin near St. George, UT. There were many of Henry James's desendants there. We had representatives from 4 of Sutcliffe's six children that produced of spring. Hope you can make it. If you know of anyone that would be interested let me know. We have a hotel right next to the Salt Lake City Family History Center and they have given us a good rate plus a free meeting room for the reunion. There will be a private showing of the Ehibit and a program.
Let me know if you are interested.
