Sandra,
I noticed your posting in regards the painting by S. Maudsley of Nauvoo, IL. I am very interested. I am a gr, gr grandson of Sutcliffe Maudsley an English artist who came to this country in 1841. He and his family lived in Nauvoo until 1846/47. He made many portrait paintings at that time. If you could make a copy and send it to me I might be able to identify it. Could you enlighten me a little as to how this painting came into the hands of your family? If there is any cost let me know and I will take care of it. Email me and I will send you my land address. I live in Clinton, IA which is about 1 1/2 hours from Nauvoo. We are having a Maudsley Family reunion in Salt Lake City area this summer and would like to show the family a picture if we don't already have a copy. Thank you and looking forward to hearing from you soon.
