Actually it is my husband's line and he descends from John Sample's(1820) sister Mary Sample (daughter of John Sample and Mary "Polly" Moore) born 6 March 1816 in Clarence, Orleans County, New York. Mary married Robert C. Crouse on 19 March 1840 in Lyon Township, Oakland County, Michigan. Mary Sample Crouse died 17 March 1897 in Hartland, Livingston County, Michigan.
I have it that John Sample (1820) married Mary Voorheis 01 October 1856 in Oakland County, Michigan. Is that the same information that you have? I have them with their 5 children Emagene born about 1858-no further information. George V. Sample who married Florence Maudlin. Mellie Sample who married Albert E. Maudlin, Sarah E. Sample who married Charles H. Maudlin. Edith no further information. I also have a picture each of John Sample and Mary.
Mellie Sample married Albert E. Maudlin on 15 November 1885 in Parshallville, Livingston County, Michigan. They had 3 children that I know of; Lawrence, Mary Leona, and Grant D. Maudlin.
Albert E. Maudlin, I had a birthdate of March 1864 taken off the 1900 Livingston County Census. (Census data are notoriously inaccurate--so I will use your date).
Albert E. Maudlin married Ella Dailey on 22 November 1898 in Brighton, Livingston County, Michigan. Ella was also a schoolteacher in 1895 at the Kinney School in Hartland Township.
Sarah Sample and Charles H. Maudlin were married in Parshallville, Livingston County, Michigan.
Sarah Adelaide Woods Maudlin filed for a pension according to the Civil War Pension Index.
I have an Anna Maria Maudlin born in 1857 in Canada who married on 11 November 1872 to William Eugene James in Hartland, Livingston County, Michigan. (Don't know if this is the same Anna...need to investigate further).
Albert E., Florence, and Charles H. Maudlin are siblings.
Ethel Alice Maudlin (daughter of Sarah Sample & Charles Maudlin) born July 1888-1921 married Albert Kale Ohls. Albert was born 22 August 1884 and died April 1966 in Copalis Crossing, Grays Harbor County, Washington. Apparently after Ethel died Albert married her sister Edith Maudlin.
According to the 1900 Census Edith was listed as being
born October 1894, but no Margaret. However is it possible that she died young?
Fred Maudlin born 4 July 1854-29 September 1928 buried in Fremont Cemetery. Fred is the oldest son of John Maudlin and Sarah Adelaide Woods. Fred and his wife Betsey had at least one daughter Bessie born about 1880.
I have 8 children for O. D. Maudlin and Myrtle; Charles Edward (born 1910), Marie(born 1912), Roland L. (born 1914), Louise (born 1918), Marion (born 1919), Earl J. (born 1922), Harold W. (born 1925), Eileen (born 1929).
