I have read with interest your messages posted on December 16 1999 and on January 20 and 21 2001. I am Robert Maude and I can trace my family back to Clogh (Liskinfere) Gorey, County Wexford, Ireland. Records go back to the early 1700s. I was born and raised in Ireland but later worked in and now live in the UK. I met your grandmother, Mabel Maude Huckaby, in 1959/60 when she and a companion visited Europe. At that time, I was not interested in family ancestry but age has changed that, and I now have compiled an extensive family tree.

I would like to compare notes with you on the Wexford Maudes. Can you give me any pointers to the source information which states that Robert Maude was a Freeman of Wexford in 1776? and to the information that indicates that our Maudes came from around Sowerby, Halifax, in the West Riding in about 1666?

There is a lot more I need to ask you and I have quite a bit to tell you. However, first of all I wish to make contact with you.

Robert Maude
