I am so glad that you replied to my query. I really think there is a connection. thanks for all the new data for me to ponder. Robert Johnson Maud born Dec. 26, 1872 died Oct. 19, 1940 Tompkins, Sask. I am not really sure of his birthplace except that it was Ont. I only met my husband's grandmother once, 30 years ago and I don't remember who told me he was born in Rockspring or Manitoulin Island. Granny said that the Maud's were Irish just like her ancestors. Robert married in 1906 Leeds Co., to Margaret Steacy born Jan. 17, 1889 in Elizabeth Township, Leeds, Ont. She died in 1979 in Alberta. She was the daughter of Samuel Steacy b. c.1843 Ireland or Ontario and Mary Jane Wilson born 1855 in Ireland or Ont. Margaret had a sister (name unknown) who was married to Thomas Maud in Ontario. Mary Jane Steacy (Wilson's) funeral service sheet said there would be tea served at the home of her daughter Mrs. Thomas Maud but didn't give the daughter's name!!! Robt. and Margaret had 7 children. My husbands mother Alice was their last. One son was Robert and he had a son Robert who had a son Robert so Robert is definately a common family name. I can be reached directly at jambur@home.com.
