I found the following:
1850 Fed. Census, Cherry Tree Twp., Venango Co., PA; Dwell. # 7211 [note ancestry has it indexed as "Mathson".
I read it as "Mattison"
Mattison, William age 51 b. VT
" Uziah 'female' age 45 b. NY
"William age 21 b. PA
" Emma age 18 b. PA
" Tobias S. age 16 b. PA
" David age 13 b. PA
" Lectin? 'female' age 11 b. PA
" Maurice age 8 b. PA
" James A. age 5 b. PA
" Girdon age 3 b. PA
" Nancy E. age 4/12 b. PA
" [no name listed] female age 2 b. PA
Haven't been able to find any of this family after 1850 using all the various spellings of "Matteson"..
