Christopher, I have still had no luck on your family but continue to look. Sometimes you have to wait until someone is deceased before you start to locate them and that's unfortunate. Maybe this was your grandfather who passed away in June 2009?

Formerly of Colonial Beach, died at Transitions Health Care in Sykesville, Maryland. Born in Washington, D.C., he was son of Clinton and Hattie Mattingly. A World War II veteran who served in the Navy for three years. He was a motor machinist in the Navy, and later had a career as an auto mechanic. He was employed at Bendall Pontiac and later retired from Chandler's Chevrolet in Montross.
A member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in King George County. The widower of Catherine Mattingly, who died in 2003. His eldest daughter Barbara A. Rolph of Sedro Woolley, Wash., predeceased him recently. The brother of Marylou Blasko of Calvert Cliffs,Maryland.

Susan, your family were most certainly from Kentucky. Amanda's father, Jacob Francis Mattingly, Jr. was born 3-2-1847 in Bracken County, Kentucky. I have his wife as Mary E. W. Staton and with eight children. 'Course, as you likely know, both Jacob and Mary are buried at St. John Cemetery, Whitman Co.
