Walter Mattingly of 1738

I was told to ask William Mattingly about Walter Mattingly-Matney, born 1738, around Prince George Co., Maryland, about his ancestory.

The Walter Mattingly in question was married to a Mary Polly, maiden name unknown. Below, he will be mentioned as Walter Matney1

Walter Matney1, name was shortened in Virginia records, had two sons, Walter and Brooks Matney. I have not been able to place the older Walters parents at all. The only Walter Mattingly-Matney that is shown in Maryland at the time, witnessed a couple of Wills.

Walter1 of 1738's son, Walter2, and his wife Charolette Charety Young, had several sons, one being a Daniel Matney, and another named Walter Jr.. Daniel was my great-great grandfather. His son, Alexander Pate Matney, was my great grandfather, and moved from Virginia to Kentucky, along with his brother, James Harvey.

Several have been trying to find who Walter Mattingly's1 parents were, and have been unsucessful. We know he moved from Maryland into Virginia with his two sons who were both born in Maryland also. If anyone can help me on this, it would be deeply appreciated. I wish to thank you in advance for your help.

Willie S. Matney
