Daniel, I have John Alfrancis Mattingly as John Alfonsis but only because this is the way his name was recorded when he registered for the World War I draft at Knox County, Indiana. Don't know that he actually wrote his name that way and his signature is only John A.
I have him born 2-13-1885 and dying in 1963. His wife I have as Faville Decker and I have nine children for them. Don't know much about their children except that Edna reportedly married a Chambers and Theodore Austin married Mabel Hood and had three children.
I have John as the son of John Hillary and his first wife, Elizabeth Belwood. And J. H. as a son of Sylvester Mattingly and Mary Ellen Smith.
From all I have seen this family is part of the Thomas, II line. My own data can be found at Rootsweb.com but you'll find many other folks data there as well. I ran a search just on John Hillary and got 18 hits (I entered both first and middle name in the same block). Not all of those John Hillary's are the same man of course. There was at least one other man by that name but he was born sometime in the mid 1700's. I've never found anything on him.
My data is under the file name "tmattinglyii" and I have it set up so you can download it if you want. Am always happy to share any information I may have and enjoy getting corrections also. If you see anything that is striking you as incorrect please let me know. I am not the least bit thin skinned and perfer to make things as correct as possible.
