Catherine vs. Catharine Miles (Mattingly)?
In my continued search for George Mattingly's father, I noticed a potential discrepancy of George's offspring that I'd like help in clarifying.George Mattingly(b 1793) married Catharine Miles(Catharine with an "a")(born 1803)and had children, Martin S.(a 1844), Miles P.(Sept 20, 1841) and Elizabeth.
I have another "Livers family" source that has a George Mattingly marrying Catherine Miles(with an e) and they had a son Joseph, born 1838. He,in turn, had about 10 children.I know that I am fourth in the Miles P. Mattingly lineage but I also know from gravestone searches that there are many links to the Mattingly and Livers families. Are these two distinct marriages or perhaps a second marriage situation with garbled dates as is common? Is this a spelling glitch between the a and the e?Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you
