I've seen reference to the name change document before. Do you have a copy? I have a probate record, Bartholomew Co., IN 1832 for Uriah Matney, Clement's son, with a notation at the bottom, "Mattly", then "Estate of Mattingly?" (smudged). Is this the document by chance?
