Heres my info on joel Franklin Matthews 4th child of David Crockett Matthews m Nancy Ann Elizabeth Sowell.
Joel b 28 Aug. 1859 Elkcreek, Wright Co., MO. He d 5 Jan. Ontario, Mhlr, OR. He m Verlinda Hickman March 1879 Laclede, MO. Verlinda was b 15 Jan. 1860 Laclede, MO. d 7 Nov. 1934 Ontario, Mhlr, OR. Buried 11 Nov. 1934 Joplin Cem., West, Boise, ID
Their children were Maude, Jesse, Clyde, Tony, Effie, William, Girtie, Lillie, Grover, Virgil, Ozius, Manuel, Clara, Sarah and Arthur. None of these sounds like the line youre searchg for.
Ive have found by reading all the posts that theres another David Crockett Matthews.
