Thank you.
I have printed and read quickly the good references you posted. The parentage of Capt. Samuel Matthew of Virgina who died about 1659-60 is still not demonstrated. Do you have anything else on this specific question? He is clearly not a son of the Archbishop and I have seen nothing thus far to show any relationship to the Archbishop. Likewise, his relationship to John who arrived about the same time in Virginia needs to be defined. One record, in the 1620's as I recall, mentions a young Robert Matthew in Capt. Samuel's household, a servant. Various records seem to show Samuel was in Virginia several years before 1622.
I would value any ideas you might have and any other information which might help to clarify the above.
