Gregory Matthews: Your crankiness is exceeded only by your arrogance. To be sure, your dismissive comments about other genealogists are no help in researching the question I raised. I have searched this site already for Tobias Matthew and Capt. Samuel Matthew. Little information. The archbishop did have two sons, Samuel and John. You state you have no idea who Capt. Samuel Matthews of early Virginia is descended from yet state with utter certainty that he could not be a son of the archbishop. Perhaps you could back that assertion with your evidence.
And your querulous and insulting phrase, "If you are really descended from Samuel Matthews" is really beyond the pale of decent communication.
I have done genealogy for fifty years but have done little on this Matthews family. I have great respect for evidence. Unfortunately, you are less than helpful.
Stephen W. Edmondson
