Hi Gary: William was an indentured servant to Governor Leete. He didn't have any choice about what he wanted to be.He was a farmer and then made a planter which gave him the right to vote on the plantations business. When he was a servant he didn't have any rights. They were considered to be prisoners of the king until they had served out their sentence. Then they had certain rights. Usually they were gave some land and money to start their own family. Two thirds of the people sent here were convicts.William was arrested for attending an conventicle. He didn't like the church of england from what I read.He attended another religion.I can't prove yet that this is him but all things match. I had one person tell me that I couldn't disapprove it.I asked the same question whether on not this was him.But as near as I can tell as of now this is him. They have been looking for him for two hundred years sooner or later someone will prove it.
