MATTHEWS of GA & Etowah Co., AL
Hi:
I have the following information on this MATHEWS family as located on the "Abstracts of Probate Court Files: 1866-1900 (Wills & Administations) Etowah County, Alabama Vol. I"
[Names were actually spelled as MATTHEWS.]
Heirs of: Rebecca (CROFT) Mathews, dec'd
- Henry Mathews Monroe, Indian Territory [Believe this to be GA]
- [Dau.] Amanda Mathews CASEY, Monroe, Indian Territory [Same as above] (Wife of Perry CASEY)
- Alice Mathews EDWARDS, MS
- George MATHEWS, dec'd
Son: Sidney J. MATHEWS, Sulphur Springs, TX
- Mary Mathews NEAL, dec'd
Dau: Ellen NEAL, Cabot, AR
- Jane Mathews, dec'd
Child: Name unknown
[The above is from the estate of Louisa (CROFT) GARRETT (wife of Pleasant GARRETT) of Etowah Co., AL (formerly Cherokee Co., AL). She died Nov 1890.]
In another part of this reference, I also see this:
Heirs of Rebecca [CROFT] MATHEWS, sister of Louisa [CROFT] GARRETT:
- Amanda Mathews CASEY (age 53) [I do believe this age is incorrect, but only by about 4 years too old], Indian Territory (Wife of Perry CASEY)
- Alice Mathews CASEY (d. ca. 1891) Mississippi (left estate to sister, Amanda M. CASEY)
When Amanda CASEY's father in law died (Willis P. CASEY), she was living in Fulton, MS [this is at present day Itawambe Co., MS]. [O. P. CASEY, her husband, was killed in the War in 1865. Her three girls were named Louisa A., Mary E. and Frances.]
[These are my remarks]
Can anyone assist on this, please?
