No one has found what Catherina is Maiden name was up till this point. Hans is far back as anyone has gone. Unfortunatly, the records past that point are alomost non existant.Even the genealogist that have been hired over the last ten years have not been able to find that. The only "famous" person this line is related too, would be Dwight Eisenhower. I am in the middle of writing a book so I dont have anything published on the web at this time. I am planning atrip to Alsace, here probably in January of 2003, in hopes of finding what we all have been wondering, where the Matter/Matterns really came from. It is believed by some, to be from the Matter Valley at the base of the Matterhorn in Switzerland. There is another therory believd by some others,I am currently working on that one myself. If you have some more pointed questions as to what you are looking for I might be able to help. For the most part you seem to as far back as anyone else.
