I am trying to locate information about my great grandfather, CHARLES BENTON METEER. He was born in Wheeling, W.VA or Franklin County, Ohio about 1845. He married Frances Marion Williamson. He may have had a brother named Elias who married Ida.

He was a Sergeant in Company K, 6th Regiment of West Virginia Cavalry.

He was in Dodd City Texas in 1877 but never appeared in any census.

Does anyone have any information about him? I am hoping he shows up in a genealogy somewhere. Any information will be greatly appreciated.
