No, sorry I don't know. I've asked some of my older aunts for information and, while they are some help, I get slightly conflicting stories, which change slightly each time they are told. Keep in mind also that although it seems the original name was Matta in Slovakia, Motto, Matto and Motta were (and in some cases still are) used here in the US by different family members, and even in some cases by the same person.
Also, note that one of my GGgrandmothers was widowed from a Matta and remarried, and apparently her second husband took the last name of her first husband, rather than vice-versa, to avoid some legal matter in Slovakia. Each marriage produced 2 children, if I recall correctly: Joseph (my GF) & Irene by the first and George & Mary by the second.
