LIVINGSTON – Lois Lucille Simpson, 87, of Shepherd died on Dec. 5, 2004, in Bayshore Medical Center in Pasadena. She is survived by her husband, Leslie O. Simpson of Shepherd; son, James Ray Simpson and wife Jean of Lake Charles, La.; daughters, Oma Sue Haywood of Pasadena, Lois Elaine Meehan and husband John of Humble, Nancy Louise Rhodes and husband Buck of Bacliff and Bonnie Morris and husband Ken of Coldspring; sons, Timothy A. Simpson of Shepherd and Oscar P. Simpson and fiancée Phyllis of Shepherd; brother, Vester Matlock; 22 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 8, in the First Baptist Church of Shepherd, with the Rev. Preston Baker and the Rev. Lennie Wilson officiating. Interment followed in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston. Mrs. Simpson was born Oct. 6, 1917 in Mt. Enterprise, the daughter of Earl Jefferson Matlock and Oma Lee Boatman Matlock. She married Leslie Simpson on Oct. 6, 1933 in Livingston. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Shepherd. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Pauline Stevens and Baby Jane; son, Leslie L. Simpson; brothers, Calvin Matlock, E.J. Matlock and Garland Matlock; grandson, Shane Simpson and granddaughter, Paula Moore. Pallbearers were James Simpson, Chuck Simpson, Timmy Simpson, Jody Simpson, Kyle Simpson, Michael Engle, C.J. Engle and Michael Haywood. Honorary pallbearers were Jamie Simpson, Oscar Simpson and Dennis Baumbach. Cochran Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
