Robert I started my research in 1998 on my Mathis family. I kept every little note regardless of the importance at the time. This year I was finally able to prove our connection to the MATHIS family of Little Egg Harbor. Oddly, I had written a note, on top of a piece of paper, saying "I believe that our line is from Nehemiah Mathis s/o John Mathis of Little Egg Harbor N. J.". It turned out to be true. I now have my Mathis family back to Wales. In checking my Mathis Book of Littlt Egg Harbor, N.J., I find only one Jacob Mathis listed. Jacob Mathis s/o Mahlon and Mahala ( Andrews) Mathis, born about 1818 died 1886, married Martha Jones born about 1822, d/o Jonah and Mary Jones. They are buried in the THE GREENWOOD Cemetery in Tuckerton, N.J.. Their children were: William A., born abt, 1843, Mary born abt.,1846, Anna D. born 12 July 1850 married Charles A. Carhart of Keyport, Sarah E. born 17 Aug., 1853 at Tuckerton and Allie born 1864, married on Aug.,27, 1887, Thomas G. Gifford, born 1855. They were married at Tuckerton M.E. Church. All of this is in New Jersey. I don't kmow if this will help, but I thought I would pass it on, JUST IN CASE. Helen in Texas Notify Administrator about this message?
