I just published a new 200 page book "Some Early Settlers of Upshur County" which includes the genealogy of the Mathis family which starts with Lewis Mathis born 1775 in Chatham, North Carolina and died 13 Jan 1834 in Tippah, Mississippi and continues primarily through his son, William B Mathis born 20 MAY 1808 in Washington, Georgia, and died aft 1867 in Upshur Co., Texas and his children Joseph DeKalb Mathis 1839 – 1905, Jacob Lewis Mathis 1841 – 1881, William Nicholas Mathis 1844 – , Ann Elizabeth Mathis and their descandants in East Texas and Upshur County, Texas.
