found that Jacob Mathias (Mathis) b 1852 switzerland d may 10 1889 in Dubuque Iowa at his residence 476 Windsor
and no widow was surviving at this time
also Harry Jacob Mathias b feb 12 1888 Dub Ia d age 25 single---apr 4 1909 .in his obit it said both parents had passed over the great divide in hi s early childhood.
so the other info that Jacob d aug 1889 in Calif is wrong --the above is correct.
