I am looking for information regarding the parentage of my ggggrandmother Elizabeth Mathews Reid who was b 01 Feb 1784 in Cambridge, Washington, New York. She married Joseph Reid son of William and Catherine Campbell Reid of Salem, NY on 01 Oct 1807. Joseph and Elizabeth were the parents of my gggrandmother Catherine Campbell Reid Donaldson.
The 1800 census lists a James Mathews family living in Cambridge with a female of the correct age group as Elizabeth. So I'm considering that possibility. Anyway, I'd appreciate any info re Washington County Mathews families. Here is some information about the Joseph and Elizabeth Mathews Reid family:
A copy of a sheet of paper found in the center of the Reid Family Bible. It is all ornately written of one ink and handwriting. This sheet is also copied into a later page of the Reid Family Bible.
"Joseph Reid was born in Argyle in Washington County and State of New-York August the 17th 1782.— Elisabeth MATTHEWS was born in Cambridge in Washington County and state of New-York February the 1st 1784, and were married Oct 1st 1807.
Elener Reid their first daughter was born January 18th 1809.
William Harvey Reid their first son was born February 25th 1811.
Ebnezer Reid their second son born March 2d 1813, and died April 14.
James Ebenezer Reid their third son was born January 24th 1814.
Archibald Whyte Reid their fourth son was born June 5th 1816.
Margret Ann Reid their second daughter was born July 11th 1818.
Sarah Wharrey Reid their third daughter was born October 31st 1820.
Rebecca Brown Reid their fourth daughter was born December 19th 1822.
Catharin Campbell Reid their fifth daughter was born Feby 6th 1825."
