Hi Marc: Anson Mathews was the son of Asahel Mathews. He was born 1 December 1787 at Chatham Ct. Asahel was the oldest son of Nathaniel Mathews< Nathaniel Mathews who was the son of Caleb Mathews Jr. Caleb Jr was the son of Caleb Mathews the son of William and Jane Mathews.

There are several Anson Mathews who are related to William Mathews. One who lived in Southington Ct. that most people get cofused about.

I don't know of any Joseph Mathews thats related to William unless he was born alot later than Anson Mathews.

There are alot on Mathews (Matthews) in Ct.and most of them are related to William and Jane or (Joan) Mathews
