Hi Judy,

I am not directly descended from any Applegates. Some of my direct line has Mathews, Hulse, Layton. And Johnson which I believe but have no actual documentation. I do have an Asher Applegate born abt 1835 who married into the Hulse family. Asher married Rhoda Hulsart and resided in Freehold. 3 of their children were Frank, Sidney, and Annie. There are some variations with the Hulse name which came about. It was originally Holsaert. Some in the Freehold area took on Hulsart, and mine, took Hulse.
