My gggrandfather Robert Mathews was born abt. 1797 in Dublin Ireland. I believe he was married twice. first to Mary(this marriage I am not certain on) and then Harriot North 1832. They had a son William Mathews born 18 july 1833 in Chunar India. William was my ggrandfather and he married a Mary Arabella they had 13 children of which I have had difficulties confirming some but are as follows
My grandfather Dr.Arthur Ernest Mathews b. 12 jan 1885 Allabad India, Florence Edith Mathews c.10 sept 1886 India, Valentine George Mathews b. 14 Feb 1881 Allahbad India, Clement Augustus Mathews c. 1 nov 1883 meerut India, Mary Bell Mathews c. 8 jul 1882 India, Ivy Percival Mathews b. 27 sept 1891, Fredrick William Mathews b 5 june 1875 Fort William Calcutta India, Daisy Winifred Mathews b. 28 dec 1887 Allahbad India, Ada Mathews b. 15 jun 1867 Dinapore India, Robert Tyrell Mathews b. 16 jan 1870 futtehgurh, India, Anne Elizabeth Mathews c.5 oct 1877 India.
Arthur left india about 1946 with his wife Irene Borkman Piggot b 29 jan1899 allahbad India and their two chilren,
Christopher John Mathews b. 25 may 1934(my father) and Hazel Dorothy b. abt 1922 India.
I would like to find any information on my gggrandfather and any of his family in Ireland and about my ggrandfather and his siblings and children and I would like to find any info on my grandfather and his siblings. There was quite a falling out amoungst his siblings due to interaicial marriages and I would like to find out more about this. Many of the men in the family were doctors and were in the military. My grandfather was also the doctor to the viceroy I am not sure on the specifics. I do know that when my father and his family left India some stayed behind and some went to england and some went to austrailia and new zealand. any leads would be appreciated
