Hi Belinda,
I have 2 books on Swan Hill. "Swan Hill" by Arthur Feldtmann and "A History of the Shire of Swan Hill" In by first book it says (talking about Schools) "Another school of that era was probably conducted in a house, no doubt the Bpresbyterian manse of the Reverend George Mathers. This was the Misses Mathers' Ladies School. The Guardian in 1889 carried an anouncement that this school would re-open in Swan Hill." (page 89). The second book didn't mention the Mathers at all. I went to Swan Hill the year before last and found George and his wife's graves.
