Here is a little more information re: Elizabeth Matheny Jones (daughter of Moses Matheny) Elizabeth was born 8/6/1822 (either Ohio or [west] Virginia)and married James Edward Jones in Marion Co. WV 2/10/1848. They moved to Iowa in 1865 where other Jones family members were living.
Per information I have, Elizabeth's parents were Moses Matheny b. 2/11/1800 in Monongalia Co. WV d. 9/5/1882 in Flat Run, Marion Co. WV. Elizabeth's mother was Elsey Wright b. 4/7/1798 in VA. d. 1/11/1875 in Marion Co. WV.
Moses Matheny's parents were James Matheny b. 3/18/1753 in Fairfax Co. VA. D.. abt. 4/10.1832 in Preston Co. WV. and Mary Lemon b. 3/23/1756 in Hampshire Co. VA d. abt. 1856 Preston Co. WV. married 9/8/1771 in Shenandoah Valley (Loudoun Co or Berkeley Co.) VA.
James's parents were William Matheny b. 1710 in Hope Plantation, Stafford, VA d. 1800 in VA. and Elizabeth Banbury m. 1/12/1734/35 in St. John's Parish Baltimore Co. MD.
William's father was Daniel Matheny b. 1676 d. 1752.
Daniel's parents were Daniel Matheny b. 1638 in Kent Co. England d. 10/14/1685 in Hope Plantation, Stafford Co. VA. and Sarah Wentworth b. 1648 in Canterbury d. 1700 in Hope Planation Stafford Co. VA m. in 1663 in Kent Co. England.
