Benjamin Matheny appears to have been the son of Jane Cruzan b. 1805 & John Matheny b. Abt. 1813. John Matheny was son of Elias Matheny b. Abt. 1772 & ? and Elias was the son of James Matheny, I , b. 1732 & Diana Beasley , b. Abt. 1752.
While I have not proof that this is correct there are census records that at least indicate that it is true or possible.
I will be sending you the records that I have to your email. Also if you go to rootsweb.com and search for Jane Cruzan you will find records from others that indicate what I have. Also if you have access to ancestry.com you can search and find even more information. If I am correct then Benjamin would be a third cousin three times removed which is why I have not spent much time on research.
