I am descended from Eli Matheny and Elizabeth Gilkey through their son, Albert D. Matheny. Eli and Elizabeth were married in Christian County, Kentucky. I have been told through family stories that the "D" in Albert D. stood for Deatherage and that his parents were James and Elizabeth, however, I have also seen it as an unknown Matheny and Nancy Unknown. I have also been told that Ansel who married Elizabeth Gill and my Eli were brothers. Can anyone help me discover the parents of my Eli? I have reasons that these two families are connected, but can find no one else connected to these families? I have also heard that James ran off with his brother's wife. Is this true? ANY help that you could give me on this family would be helpful. I am willing to share anything that I have. Thank you.
