I thought you might want to quickly read my 8/7/06 post. I, too, am eagerly looking for information about a Lemuel Matheny, although since he had a son in 1933, I think he's a good deal younger than your Lemuel.
Nevertheless, there might (hopefully) be a link - it's such an unusual name.
I guess I wondered if you'd discovered anything further. Be sure to post when you do; I'll do the same!
