Lake County Banner, Obit - Jerry Thomas Matheny
Jerry Thomas Matheny, 60, of Wynnburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003, at Baptist Hospital in Union City. He was a retired factory worker.
Visitation was Thursday evening at Tiptonville Chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home.
Services were at 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel, with the Rev. Chip Davis officiating.
Pallbearers were Bobby Joe Jones, Johnny Ward, Jackie Deason, Larry Watts, Mark Farley, Johnny Turner and Leroy Cook.
Burial was in New Haven Cemetery near Ridgely.
He was born March 26, 1942, in Tiptonville to the late Brooksie Lucille Watkins and Tommy Lester Matheny.
He married Mary Plunkett, who survives.
He leaves his wife, Mary Plunkett Matheny of Wynnburg; a son, David Alan Matheny of Jackson; two daughters, Jerrie Jeanice Thomsen of Dresden and Melissa Darlene Matheny of Wynnburg; a sister, Brooksie Nelle Haggard of Parsons; two brothers, Marion Lee Matheny of Newbern and Lester Eugene Matheny of Campbellsburg, Ky.; two grandchildren, Victoria Izabella Matheny and Isaiah Thomas Matheny.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, J.W. Matheny and Billy Matheny, and a sister, Elizabeth Matheny Lovett.
