Hello, Mastins, et al, I hope I am not breaching any protocol with this post, but I am looking to find a Mastin connection to my gggg-grandfather, John Mastin Holden, whom I find marrying an Elizabeth Butler in 1808 in Baton Rouge, LA. The record states that he was 25 and from "NC", which could have been TN or NC at the time ( he would have been born ca. 1783). The Mastin name was passed down through several generations that I know of for a fact. I have long suspected that the Mastin name was a maternal name for us or that John Mastin Holden could have been named for an uncle, or even a neighbor! From recent information from my participation in the Holden DNA Project, I know that I come from a group of Holdens in the MD/VA/NC areas from as early as 1720. I have seen the name of John Mastin in VA from that period, and just wanted to throw out a line to the Mastin crowd and see what I could catch. Thanks for your kind indulgences . . . .
