Mary Louisa Owens m James Kelly DeJarnatt 9/14/1880, Tarrot Co. Texas

Family stories say Mary Massey was Cherokee by blood. That Mary Louisa was born in the Oklahoma Indian Territory.
David Nelson Owens was alledged to have participated in the march of the Cherokee Nation to the Oklahoma Territory.
It was told that the family could have registered with the Cherokee Nation but in the early 1900's it was not in vouge to be identified with the Indian Nations.
I am looking for information on the Massey blood line in my family and to find out if the stories told reference the blood line are true. It has been told that Mary Massey was the daughter of a chief. Would like to know if any of these stories are in fact true.
