Researching the name Hezekiah Massey. One show's up in the 1820 BUNCOMBE County Census living near my ancestor Joab MASSEY. Both are older than 45 and living alone. I find Joab in the 1790 GUILFORD NC Census. The Judge's books has Joab being from the family of Thomas MASSEY the PA. immigrant. But in the census information I find the names nearby are common to the Richard MASSEY family from Virginia. Example's - Nathanial, Enoch, Hezekiah. In this census Nathanial looks older and could be the father to Joab.
Massey's in 1790 GUILFOED NC Census
Names are listed in the order I found them on the Census.
1st Column Males over the age of 16
2nd Column Males under the age of 16
3rd Column Total number of females
