I very interested in the Joab MASSA that appears in the 1800 Greenville County, Census. I looked at the Greenville county web page at the 1800 census located there and did not find him? Does anyone know if that census is a complete copy?
Anyways the above mentioned Joab shows up in the 1790 Guilford Co, NC Census with his wife and five sons and one daughter who are under the age of 16 years.
Joab shows up in the 1810 and 1820 Buncombe Co., NC Census. This is where I have traced my Massey's from.He does have a son named Avery. I believe my family descends from his son William bc 1772.
I am researching the census and trying to determine if these MASSEY's originally came from Chester Co.PA. I have seen on the internet where people have placed this family there. But I am looking for documemtation or if this where Judge Massey places them in his books?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I currently have started a homepage with a cousin and we are currently putting all census/Vitals on it. At this time most of the information pertains to our BUNCOMBE/Madison Co., NC relatives, but hopefully eventuallywill include anyone researching early MASSEY's that show up in the early Tax Lists and Census.
Trying to untangle the MASSEY families from early NC.
Anyone interested please email.
