I have found one record of a Robert Massengill (s/o George) who married abt. 1793 amd had 3 children --Aaron, Nancy & William.First wife probably died before Mar. 4, 1797.He was living in Johnston Co., N. C. on 250 acres conveyed from George to him.Was George his father?Robert married again 8151798 Sally Sellars.Robert died 1809 leaving Sally with 3 step-children and 6 of her own.Sally married Harmon Caudle 11131810.Almost immediately, guardians were appointed for Robert's 3 older children were "bound Out".Records show William, b. 1797, had a George Massengill appointed guardian and was sent to his farm (Miss ?) to work.
Is this our William?Family legend has him as "plantation overseer" when he married Cassy Ann Pullin in Hinds Co., Miss. 1833.
Can anyone prove or disprove this record?I would love to hear from you concerning our history.
