I am a great grandson of Solomon Masse and Marie Philomine Peltier of Windsor Mills P.Q.
They had 12 children that I know of and Philias is one of theirs born in 1868. Most of their offspring moved to the Holyoke area.
Joseph, My grandfather 1866-1930 is buried in Notre Dame cemetary in South Hadley. He married Marie Sophie Bibeau and had 2 children, Lionel and Loretta Parent, my mother.
Emery, 1875-1948 was a farmer in Willamansett. Most of this data I was able to get from 2 of Emery's daughters several years ago.
Delia Masse,1882-1964,the only girl who moved to MA married Elzear Huot and made their home at 272 Newton St South Hadley across from the High School. He once operated his dairy from this location prior to selling building lots to people who would become his neighbors.
Wilfred,1873-?, stayed in Canada, Married Cesari and had 4 children.
Alphonse, 1874-?, Married Victoria Lantangne, 1868-1949 and had 3 children and they lived in Willamansett.
Simeon Masse, 1880-1918, married Leontine Nadeau, 1879-1968, and had 3 children. Simeon was the founder of the corner grocery store in Willamansett at the "Y", which he named the Y cash Market. His daughter, Yvette, married Paul D'Amour who bought the store from his father in law in the 1940's and began to expand into the company now known as The Big Y and has Paul's youngest son, Donald, as its CEO.
Arthur, ~1881, married Nelida Messier, 1876-1969. She died in Chicopee.
Azilda, 1864, Zenaide 1876, Miderva 1879, Lydia, 1872. I don't have any info on these, However, I think they may have died very young.
I hope this info is helpful to you.
