Here is the militia information for all the Masons. Alexander H. Mason (1807-1858)--1833 was adjutant Son of Enoch Mason and Lucy Wiley Roy Bartlet Mason--1803 was in Capt. William Stark's company Son of Lewis Mason and Mary Bethel Daniel Mason--listed as a captain 1800, 03-06, 08 (light infantry), 1810, 1812-14, 1816. Do you think some of these later years might have been Daniel, Jr.? I think they're probably all Daniel Jr. Daniel Sr. was born about 1725 and proably died 1810. Daniel in 1802 was still officially junior (below) but by late 1810 he would have been the only Daniel. Daniel Mason, Jr.--1802 was captain Enoch Mason--ensign in 1786; 2nd captain of infantry 1794; major 2nd battalion 1796, 98-00; colonel in 1801 & 1803; Lt. colonel commandant in 1804-1806. By 1807 he had resigned. Son of John Mason and Mary Nelson. Enoch Mason, Jr.--1822 was ensign; capt. of Stafford Guards 1831; colonel 1833 and served until his death c.1835. Son of Enoch Mason and Lucy Wiley Roy. (1798-1835) Henry Mason--ensign in 1786; lieutenant in 1794; captain of 2nd battalion 1796-1801; major in 1802. Son of John Mason and Mary Nelson (ca. 1765-1808) Joel Mason--ensign in 1794; lieutenant 1796-99 when he resigned; in Capt. Hancock Eustace's company 1802; 2nd lieutenant of cavalry 1808. Son of John Mason and Mary Nelson John Mason--1814 was ensign in Daniel Mason's company. I don't know who this one was. Lewis Mason--ensign in 1786; 6th captain in 1794; captain of 1st battalion 1796-1800; he resigned around 1800 or 1801. Son of John Mason and Mary Nelson. Married Mary Bethel. Nelson Mason--in Capt. Enoch Harding's company 1806; private in Elijah Hardin's company in 1814; in Capt. Thomas Hill's company in 1821. Son of Lewis Mason and Mary Bethel. Died between 1840- 1856 Wiley R. Mason--failed to appear for required muster in 1827. Son of Enoch Mason and Lucy Wiley Roy William Mason--in Lewis Mason's company in 1797; in Elijah Harding's companyThis cannot be the Rev. Wm., son of John and Mary, but I don't know who he was. Lewis did not have a son named William nor did Joel or Enoch. There is an heirs' deed 1819 that names brother Henry's children--no William, but there is a Mrs. Elizabeth Mason who could appears to be a widow of one of Henry's sons--possibly a William? in 1804; in James Robertson's company 1805. Yelverton Mason--in Thomas Fristoe's company in 1805. Possibly the son of Daniel Mason Sr.--a guess. Let me know if you find anything of interest. Notify Administrator about this message?
