Salem County Courthouse, Clerk's Records, Mortgage Book A p.75 Surnames: DuBois, Ewing, Maskell, Thompson, Trenchard Joseph Vanmeter, Mortgagor to Thomas Maskell, Esq.'r, Mortgagee: For all that Tract or piece of Land Situate in the Township of Pitts Grove and is bounded as followeth, namely the Easterly part thereof by Lands of Sarah Vanmeter and on the West by Lands of Ephraim Vanmeter and on the North by Lands of David DuBois and on the South by Land of Newcomb Thompson, Containing four hundred acres of Land, Swamp and Cripple. The Mortgage Deed dated the 17th day of May ADom. 1774 and acknowledged before Maskell Ewing, Esq.'r the same day. The Principal Sum £100 Lawful Money of New Jersey Payable in one year from the date with Lawful Interest.
