Hello James, when I read your message I recalled that my great-aunt, who lived in Mentone, Australia named her house 'Essex' and that family mythology tells of the family crest of James Maskell,is a short horned bull. He was dubbed "Chemist to the King." Suzanah is another name that pops up in the family here. Do you know any of these stories? This is fascinating even if you don't.
I know other stories passed on by oral history which, if we are related would be a wonderful connection across the water.
Thanks for prompting me to recall stories not thought of since childhood.
