Richard,
I am proved gggggg grandson of John Mask, extant 1780 will in Richmond Co., NC.He may be the John Mask some say was born in 1729 in (St. Paul's) VA.IS HE SON OF JOHN MASK (b. 1702 in St. Paul's records) AND THUS PROBABLE BROTHER OF JUDITH MASK BORN1698?
I am the one who 10 or more years ago went from TX to NC and proved John Mask's son, Dudley Mask, b. ca. 1750s, m. Nancy Barr 178l in Granville Co., NC, served in the American Revolution and opened both DAR and SAR lines from him.
I have also been to that super old church in New Kent. When I was in the 4th grade 500 years ago, my teacher showed me a picture of that church, not knowing it was "ours."I never forgot that church, and when I drove up that Sunday in VA 40 years later, I cried.
Mask Ferry on the Pee Dee in Richmond Co., NC is a most interesting site also.Nothing there, I think, but Am. Rev. happenings there.Letters written by generals such as Gates, etc. in Am. Rev. and now published in NC Journal.
One instance published is the British came through the Pee Dee and destroyed the library of my ggggg Dudley Mask.I loved it (the info--not that he lost his library!!).
Would like to share and compare with you or any Mask researcher. It is a great old name and family in America.
My e-mail is bouncing, so please contact me here temporarily. Also, please check my GenForum posts re Mask and ESPECIALLY William Peace of Peace College in Raleigh. That is just another A+ for our family.
My best,
David
