Philippine/Spanish ancestry

Hello everyone. Are any of you familiar with a Mascareņas relative in Hawaii or in the Philippines? Can anyone trace that far back? I'm a great granddaughter of Juan Mascariņas (of Bohol, Philippines/Visayas region)whose mother was from Spain. My great grandfather's brother later moved to Manila, Philippines and somehow got his name changed to Mascareņas. Would anyone happen to know any relatives in the Philippines? I'm curious to know about my family background. Our last name is too unique to be considered a mishap. Did our last names changed throughout history? There's also this Portugese sailor who discovered the Mascarene island. His name was Pedro Mascarenhas (http://www.encyclopedia.com/html/m/mascaren.asp). I'm of a Filipino/Spanish descent but I know so little of my Spanish background. I'm anxious to learn more about my ancestors. Your knowledge is greatly appreciated.Take Care.
