Hello Jacqui;

Funny that your family has the same story as my family. Ours takes it one step further and has said that my relative helped put the initial drafts of The Communist Manifesto tegether with Karl back in Germany before they were both sentenced to death by the local government. Don't know if it is true, but I do seem to recall that Johanna Marx was listed as a beneficiary to Johann Gotleib Marx (who I believe is our common cousin of Karl).

I will check the records that I have, but in the mean time, you could try focusing your research on Palmer County, Kansas. I think that at a minimum, you and I are related and the fact that we have such similar stories from opposite sides of the globe tends to give me a little more confidence that our stories are true.
