My older brother was named William Herman Marks b1925, Amsterdam, New York. Our father was Herman William Marks b1903, Amsterdam, New York. Our grandfather was Wilhelm Marks (Marx) b1867 Langenau bei Frystadt, West Prussia. His father was either William Frederich Marx or Frederich William Marx from Neudeck, West Prussia just north of Langenau. I once read that the Germans in that section of West Prussia had come from the area near the Netherlands because they knew how to farm the wet lands similar to those along the Vistula River. Of course, all the above names are common and Marx (Marks) is very common.
